William Lawton, M.D., UMASS Medical School, Worcester, MA
Topic: In Part 2, who really is affected by Doctor Prescribed Suicide, aka Physician Assisted Suicide? Why is it an issue? Is it fear of pain or self autonomy? Is it a patient's right to die or really a doctor's right to kill issue? Will the real impact fall upon the poor, the elderly, blacks, Hispanics, and the disabled? Would 'Going Neutral' by the Massachusetts Medical Society be a huge victory for the pro-death proponents? Will inevitable government rationing hasten DPS? And conversely, what about medical breakthroughs that give patients hope?
