An embryo is a new living human being in the earliest stage of development.
Many problems exist with this unregulated, lucrative IVF industry.
- First, it has the same elements to modern day human trafficking. That's made to order, exchange money, then transfer that child to the adults who paid for him.
- Second, there are no rules, no records and is out of control.
- Third, it's a growing ORPHAN crisis with more than a million to two million estimated frozen embryos.
- Fourth, it encourages anonymous sperm donation and surrogacy.
- Fifth. freezing embryos is morally wrong.
- Sixth, frozen embryos have no rights.
- Seventh, embryos legal status is 'property'. If the embryo is a human, shouldn't it be custody?
- Eighth, how many eggs are hyper ovulated and then frozen.
- Ninth, with IVF, is the best interest of the parents or the child being served.
- Tenth, IVF doctors just want to get you pregnant and to term in the pregnancy.
- Eleventh, IVF doctors do not want any adoptions whatsoever, neither open or closed.
- Twelfth, are there extra storage costs of the frozen embryos each month? And who pays for this cost? Thirteenth, the IVF industry treats embryos as a commodity. Extra frozen embryos are often abandoned, destroyed or used for medical research.
The adoption process really 'humanizes the embryo'. There is also great joy in being both the adoptive mom and the birth mom. Corrective actions Hannah recommends for the fertility industry include: No freezing and thawing of embryos aka children; No Surrogacy; No donor conceptions; only create the number of embryos you plan to parent and then transfer them right away; adopting embryo organizations need to flourish and the donor programs need to cease to exist; embryos to be adopted first need a 'home study'; and common sense laws and regulation like both Italy and Germany legislated to stop the freezing of embryos. Hannah recommends creating a Snowflakes Adoption Program. Finally, Hannah is involved with a new documentary entitled 'Frozen Embryos... the True Cost of Creating Life'.
